Palazuelos Monastery 100% Verdejo vintage 2017 and welcomed the Denomination of Origin Rueda, won Gold among the more than 2,600 samples submitted to the most important international wine competition in Asia.
Palazuelos Verdejo Monastery 100% DO Rueda de Bodegas De Alberto has been awarded the Gold Medals at the Asia Wine Trophy, the Asian edition of the Berliner Wine Trophy, the most important international wine competition in Germany and, endorsed by the OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine) and the UIOE (International Union of Winemakers), one of the most relevant in the world.
With a jury of more than 100 internationally renowned tasters and expert sommeliers and as part of the Daejeon International Food and Wine Festival, in South Korea, the Asia Wine Trophy contest took place last week in the aforementioned South Korean city.
The Monasterio de Palazuelos Verdejo 100%, one of the emblematic wines of Bodegas Hijos de Alberto Gutiérrez, with a 2017 vintage and under the Rueda Designation of Origin, won Gold among the more than 2,600 samples submitted to the international wine competition with the greatest recognition in the Asian market.
This recognition is added to distinguished list of awards obtained for this wine in other competitions and publications, including the Gold Medal at the Berliner Wine Trophy and the Silver Medals at Mundus Vini and Bacchus 2018, among others.
The Monasterio de Palazuelos Verdejo, made with the native variety of the DO Rueda, the Verdejo, in a 100%, has been distinguished in the contest for its quality and described as a straw-yellow wine with greenish reflections, with good intensity on the nose where the fruity aromas with tones of hay and aniseed memories stand out. On the palate, it is fresh and tasty, and its good structure and persistence stand out.
