Spanish wines have demonstrated their weight in the international wine sector with the presence of 159 companies in the official Spanish pavilion, 48 wineries from Castilla y León and specifically 8 from Valladolid at the Prowein 2013 fair. The German fair is considered one of the most representative events at European and world level. Rueda wines, with a score of more than 80 points, managed to enter the selection of wines that made up the pavilion dedicated to tasting.
The great Spanish representation at the German fair has once again confirmed the export potential, which was already indicated by the historical figures achieved in 2012, with more than 129 million euros sold.
Many of the representative wines of Spain have participated and won some of the categories of the last edition of the Bacchus. One more sample of the quality of the wines that are positioning themselves as reference products in the international market.
Verdejo, one of the stars in the tasting area
The autochthonous variety of the Rueda area, Verdejo, has played a leading role at the fair. With its singular straw yellow color and greenish reflections, its intensity on the nose, where fruity aromas with tones of hay and aniseed hints stand out, and its long persistence on the palate, the De Alberto Verdejo 2012 wine, recent winner of a Silver Bacchus, It is a representation of the soul of the Rueda Denomination of Origin.
More than 1,100 samples opted to enter the exclusive tasting area in Prowein organized in cooperation with the specialized magazine “Weinwirtschaft” that presents international wines on topics relevant to the market. In our case, being among the 80 chosen to form part of the exclusive tasting area in Hall 6 has undoubtedly been an opportunity to continue demonstrating the consolidation of the wines of our land as a point of reference in the wine sector. Thanks to the work carried out by each of the members of the wine sector, and the promotion supported by the Denominations of Origin and Tierra de Sabor, wine is becoming one of the decisive pillars for the community and country to emerge from the crisis.
