De Alberto Edición Limitada Gran Vino de Rueda 2021 has been awarded a bronze medal at the prestigious Japan Wine Challenge, one of the most important wine competitions in Asia. This award reaffirms the exceptional quality of this commemorative wine, created especially to celebrate the winery's 80th anniversary.
The Japan Wine Challenge, which is celebrating its 27th edition this year, is recognised as the oldest and most prestigious wine competition in Asia. A select group of international expert tasters evaluate wines from around the world, looking for those that stand out for their quality and can meet the expectations of the demanding Japanese market.
De Alberto Limited Edition 80th Anniversary Gran Vino de Rueda is a unique wine that represents the essence and history of Bodegas De Alberto. Made exclusively with Verdejo grapes from old vineyards, its production is limited to 7,780 bottles. Manual harvesting and the low yields of these vineyards guarantee the concentration of aromas and flavours in each grape. After careful production, the wine ages for 8 months on its lees, a process that gives it complexity, elegance and a unique character.
To the eye, this wine presents an attractive light straw yellow colour. On the nose, a symphony of aromas evoking fennel, scrubland and white fruits unfolds. On the palate, a round and complex palate is revealed, with a vibrant freshness and excellent acidity. It is ideal for pairing with a wide variety of dishes, from rice and white meats to fish and seafood.
This exclusive wine has not only won over the jury at the Japan Wine Challenge, but has also received excellent scores from specialist critics: 94 points from Tim Atkin MW and Beth Willard, 92 points in Vinous, 95 points in the Vivir el Vino Guide, 92 points in the ADN Verema Guide and a Bronze medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
