De Alberto Dorado and Saitina, awarded with Gold and Silver at the Mezquita Awards, a reference event for liquorice wines from Spain.
Serrada (Valladolid), May 2th, 2019. Rows of orange and palm trees, fountains and imposing two-colored horseshoe arches in white and red. Iconic images of an artistic and cultural reference in Spain: the Mosque of Cordoba. And now, more and more, symbols of the enogastronomic quality of this city and of the international contest of reference of the generous wines, the Mezquita Awards, which this year have celebrated their twenty-fifth edition.
Alberto Dorado 100% Verdejo DO Rueda and Saitina have been awarded a Gold Medal and a Silver Medal, respectively, in this edition of the Mezquita de Córdoba Awards, one of the most important wine competitions in Spain and the contest of international reference specialized in wines of generous type, category in which the awarded wines of Bodegas De Alberto have stood out.
The 25th edition of the Iberian Wine Contest Mezquita Awards, organized by the Aula del Vino associations and the Wine Academy of Córdoba and endorsed, year after year, by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment and by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries from the Junta de Andalucía, it has received 315 wine samples from all over Spain and Portugal, which have been evaluated by a professional jury composed of 35 expert tasters, from Spain, Portugal and Switzerland.
This Gold Medal for De Alberto Dorado 100% Verdejo DO Rueda, from Bodegas Hijos de Alberto Gutiérrez, joins the Grand Gold Medal recently won at the Bacchus International Wine Competition 2019, as well as the important prize list of awards obtained by this wine, among which is the Grand Gold Medal at the Brussels World Contest, the 95 Peñín points and the 91 Parker Wine Advocate points.
Bodegas De Alberto is the only DO Rueda winery that, with its De Alberto Dorado Verdejo 100% DO Rueda, has maintained since its birth in the 40s the elaboration of the historic golden wine, rigorously adhering to the traditional methodology: developing a aging Oxidative in outdoor demijohns and a solera aging in large boots with a mother wine of more than 70 years.
The Silver Medal of the Mezquita Prizes for Saitina also represents an important recognition for Bodegas De Alberto in regards to its elaboration of generous wines with oxidative aging. Saitina has been appreciated as a sweet white wine with a frank and clean aroma, reminiscent of raisins and dates, and sweet and unctuous in the mouth.
